Start your unforgettable journey early in the morning with a 4×4 drive from Salalah towards the spectacular Qara Mountain range, where dramatic landscapes open up over the lush Salalah plains filled with rich shrubland and woodland scenery. After a short break in Thumrait, a historic Bedouin settlement, continue across the vast gravel plains of Al Nejd desert, heading deeper into the heart of Oman’s wilderness. The adventure leads to the legendary Lost City of Ubar, a UNESCO World Heritage Site located about 175 km from Salalah, famously known as the “Atlantis of the Sands,” where you can explore the archaeological remains of this ancient civilization and learn about its discovery through satellite technology. From there, continue into the breathtaking Empty Quarter Desert (Rub Al Khali), the largest sand desert in the world, where you can climb towering dunes and witness endless golden landscapes stretching beyond the horizon. On the return journey, stop at Wadi Dawka, the UNESCO-listed Frankincense Wadi, home to the largest natural collection of frankincense trees, and discover the historical importance and traditional uses of this ancient resin before driving back to your hotel in Salalah
